Thresholds we hit versus thresholds sites publish
Observed limits are where a service stopped us: sms-man.com at our fourth top-up, in August, once cumulative deposits passed about $100, and coinsbee.com past about €400 of cumulative purchases. Published limits are ceilings a site states itself before you pay: €1,000 per month at Giftoshi and €500 per month at USDTVouchers. Neither of those two asked for ID during the 5-month test, and our €480 of purchases stayed below both ceilings.
The two kinds of record do not always match, so each is dated. In our 9-site test published on September 9, 2026, with 1 to 3 orders per site, Coinsbee’s published ID threshold was €1,000 per order; in the 5-month test, the request came at about €400 cumulative. That older record lists USDTVouchers with no cap, where the later test recorded a €500 monthly ceiling. Bitrefill runs the other way: $500 per day and ID for large amounts then, no ceiling stated and no ID asked in the later test.
The trigger is not always an amount
Modal completed 15 jobs at 99% of reference performance with no identity check. About three hours into the 16th, our first twelve-hour H100 run, it suspended the account for "suspected mining" and asked for an ID document, a selfie and a project description. The recorded trigger is that flag, not an amount. Its terms reserve identity verification at any time (article 9.2); $85.00 is still held and the last four jobs never ran.
At coinsbee.com the first check came before any purchase: opening an account required a phone number verified by SMS, although the homepage says "WITHOUT KYC", and in many countries, France included, a mobile line is tied to an identity. The ID document and selfie came later, once cumulative purchases passed about €400, and the last four orders could never be placed.
How far each test went without an ID request
SMS: over 6 months and 150 code requests per site, every rated site was pushed past $100 of cumulative top-ups, the level where sms-man.com stopped us, with no ID request. VirtualSMSNumbers, ReadyOTP and OTPAtlas also went through a balance refund and account deletion, and top-ups at VirtualSMSNumbers reached $180. The refund step does not apply everywhere: SMSario’s balance is non-refundable.
Gift cards: 40 orders per site over 5 months, up to €480 of cumulative purchases, with no ID request at any rated site; since €480 is below both stated ceilings, the test does not show what happens once one is reached. GPUs: 20 jobs per host over 4 months, including H100s held at 100% for hours, with no ID request. VPS sign-up checks were not part of any test.
Keep balances small
None of the three ID requests came with a refund: $64.00 at sms-man.com, €71 at coinsbee.com and $85.00 at Modal are still held. Top up close to what you are about to spend, keep monthly gift-card purchases under the stated ceiling, or use Giftlano, which has no account: you pay, the code appears on the page, and there is no account balance to freeze.

We did not test VPS sign-up checks: our 6-month offshore test measured service continuity. Published policies checked on September 8, 2026 request no identity documents at HushVPS, VPSDEN, NimbusVPS and EchelonVPS; XmrCloud’s draft terms reserve a document request under a binding court order. All five were active at the end of that test.
